The Rocky Mountainaires were founded in 1968 and chartered as the Missoula Montana Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We have had members from 14 years of age to over 80. It is primarily a men's singing group, however there are mixed quartets and occasionally a member of the Sweet Adelines Women's Barbershop Group will join us for a particular performance. Our purpose is to have fun ringing chords while improving our musical capabilities. We perform on a fairly regular basis a wide variety of music at shows, nursing homes and hospitals, paid events and competitions.
Our ranks include teachers, farmers, salesmen, computer operators, architects, students, retirees, and others who live around the Missoula area.
Serving Our Community. We serve our community in two ways. We serve by providing family friendly entertainment locally. We accept performance requests for conventions, parties, meetings, and schools. We do love to sing.
Our second service to our community is charitable. We donate locally to charitable organizations and school music departments. We feel that music in the schools is important to our future. Music in schools creates our next generation of singing members and richens the lives of participating students.
